Its arguably the best sounding release of this album ever available - Presented in stickered & sealed Sleeve. Tracks: 01. Mojo 02. Uranus 03. Poinciana 04. Speak Low 05. Bookers Blues 06. Boo Booker is a distinctive and unique sounding tenor, with a passionate and emotional style. This album hears him in his prime, with a quartet set featuring pianist Horace Parlan, bassist George Tucker and drummer Al Harewood. Interestingly, jazz/blues musicians who recorded for Candid during their brief existence between 1960 and 1961 were often inspired to play more creatively than for other labels. This is true for Booker and for this 1961 release. In addition to numbers like 'Poinciana' and 'Speak Low', the quartet performs four of Booker's originals, better known overall as 'Booker's Blues'. Highly recommended. Personnel: Booker Ervin: tenor saxophone/ George Tucker : bass/ Horace Parlan : piano/Al Harewood : drums Supervision by Nat Hentoff Recorded at Nola Penthouse Studios, NYC, January 6th 1961 Recording engineer: Bob d’Orleans
