A welcome reissue of Envy's legendary 2001 sophomore album, which originally saw a release on Japanese punk label H. G. Fact before Dim Mak pressed it up for the USA. After years of exorbitant eBay trading, the LP finally resurfaces thanks to Temporary Residence, who are billing this as a bit of a masterpiece of its genre. As for precisely what that genre is, well, that's probably up for debate: hardcore, post-rock, even the dreaded 'screamo' tag could be tossed in the direction of this material and there would be an element of truth. There's a certain amount of similarity between Envy's more expansive theatrical moments to the orchestral quiet-loud crescendo-baiting ways of (labelmates and compatriots) Mono, but you won't find any orchestral pomp here, instead the band beat the living crap out of their guitars - in the most melodic sense the expression permits, that is - while larynx-obliterating vocals lead the charge. Powerful stuff. Tracks: 1. Zero 2. Farewell to Words 3. Lies, and Release From Silence 4. Left Hand 5. A Cradle of Arguments and Anxiousness 6. Mystery and Peace 7. Invisible Thread 8. The Spiral Manipulation 9. A Cage It Falls Into 10. The Light of My Footprints 11. Your Shoes and the World to Come
