When James Taylor releases an album, it is always a much welcomed event to his millions of fans around the globe. This superstar singer/songwriter/guitarist is undoubtedly one of America’s most important contributors ever to popular music.
After a major run of hit recordings with Apple and Warner Bros. Records throughout most of the 70’s, James Taylor signed with Columbia Records and began even more decades of gold and platinum successes which have forever stood the test of time. His 1985 masterwork That’s Why I’m Here continued his winning streak.
Filled with a number of hit singles and definitive album tracks, this brilliant LP kicks off with the super cool title track "That’s Why I’m Here." After the first few seconds of his signature guitar riffs and unmistakable vocals, you know you are in for a very hip James Taylor musical journey.
More hits abound as his beautiful interpretation of Buddy Holly’s "Everyday" and his sing along anthem "Only One" which features Don Henley and Joni Mitchell, delivered massive airplay and sales as he proved once again that he is no stranger to the pop and rock charts. Even brother Livingston Taylor’s "Going Around One More Time" and the Burt Bacharach classic "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" which also features Graham Nash on vocals, receive a whole new appreciation thanks to the voice and guitar of this musical legend.
More introspective James Taylor is found with the heart wrenching "Song For You Far Away" which is easily one of the finest songs he has ever written, plus the rhythmic and emotion of "Only A Dream In Rio" truly captivate the fans into yearning more and more listens of this powerful album.
