2019 EU issue on 180g LP-With the Joe Jackson newest album, with which he celebrates his 40th anniversary as a studio musician, Jackson fulfilled a lifelong dream: to go after a successful tour together with his band at full throttle directly into the studio. That's what happened: on July 29, Joe finished his summer 2018 tour at the Egyptian Theater in Boise, Idaho, USA, and was in the same city from the next day at the Tonic Room Studios. Jackson says of himself that he has never had a concrete concept in his mind with his albums, but sometimes finds one of them. For "Fool" it is the topic of comedy and tragedy and their influence on life. The album perfectly reflects Jackson's outstanding songwriting talent and artistic diversity. There are both jazz, classical, and pop influences on it, which in eight unique songs to an extraordinary album.

The album was produced by Jackson along with producer Pat Dillett (David Byrne, Sufjan Stevens, Glen Hansard, etc.). Jackson is particularly attached to the band because he has been playing with them since "Fast Forward" (2015). These include Teddy's buddy on guitar, Dough Yowell on drums, and Graham Maby on bass (Maby attended the very first recording session 40 years ago and has been collaborating with Jackson many times since then).
