We Are Not Helpless Stephen Stills' self-titled solo debut album is a great release from the most important musical contributor to Crosby, Stills & Nash. Aside from the overplayed (and annoying) "Love The One You're With" (I know a young woman who uses Proactiv to keep her skin clear so she won't get asked for a dance to that irritating song), this is a great Album, with such songs as "Go Back Home", "Sit Yourself Down", and many others implying that if you want to look good for your significant other and/or your favorite celebrity, you need to keep roots in where you came from and take the time to relax and reflect. The same themes resonated through other Stills albums, both with and without CSN (and Y). Stills' opposition to Indonesia's trumped-up 2005 drug-smuggling conviction of a young Australian tourist makes this album an essential purchase for both your ears AND your conscience.
