The first of three digital EP's only available from Boomkat for a while, later to be made available on three limited twelves sometime in early 2008! So how's about this for a lineup - Thom Yorke remixed by Burial, Modeselektor, Various Production, Cristian Vogel, Four Tet, The Field, Surgeon and The Bug?! A mouthwatering proposition, and the first of these three EP's opens with the mighty Burial remix, another shocking arrangement of impossibly squashed percussion and unknown samples weaved in an out of Thom Yorke's ever-so-delicately manipulated voice. It's predictably mighty, and worthy the cost of admission alone. Thom Yorke favourites Modeselektor are up next, their reworking of Skip Divided pitching down the vocals almost imperceptibly, harrowing strings adding structure while the beats link up as tight and nervous as ever. Various Production finish this first EP with a dubstep variation complete with stretched snares and grime progressions. Their production tends to shine around vocals, and this is one of their finest - edgy and oddly moving, a juxtaposition Yorke himself no doubt approves of.
