Release date: 04-11-2007 2007 Russian limited edition 10-track LP pressed on 180gram VIRGIN VINYL - both sexy and sophisticated, Tom and his unmistakable golden baritone defined an entire era. Like Sinatra, Elvis, or the Beatles, you cannot define Tom by comparing him to anyone else, he is simply Tom Jones. So perhaps it is fitting that throughout his career he has always been drawn to the music of The Beatles, and his cover versions of the Fab Four have become classicsin their own right, presented in sealed & stickered picture sleeve.
Tracks: 01. We Can Work It Out 02. The Long And Winding Road 03. Got To Get You Into My Life 04. Yesterday 05. Twist & Shout 06. Can't Buy Me Love 07. Let It Be 08. (Just Like) Starting Over 09. Lady Madonna 10. Roll Over Beethoven
A weird little record -- especially given the cover image, which makes you think that the set's a batch of Tom Jones tunes from the 60s! Instead, the album actually appears to be live material -- we think from Jones' 80s comeback years -- all Beatles' tunes, as promised by the title, but delivered in relatively contemporary versions, with a fair bit of keyboards and backing singers helping Jones out! The approach isn't bad, but it's more updated than we might like -- although throughout the set, the undeniable Tom Jones charm always rings out strongly. Titles include "Twist & Shout", "We Can Work It Out", "The Long & Winding Road", "Starting Over", "Lady Madonna", "Roll Over Beethoven", and "Can't Buy Me Love".
