2019 eu remaster on 180g vinyl 2LP mastered from original sources -Beethoven's 9th Symphony has been enjoyed by audiences for generations. Clearly this is the piece de resistance for the symphony's many 20th Century performances. Conduced by Leonard Bernstein ("Lennie" as he was known affectionately by Europeans) and performed near what was once the Berlin Wall, Bernstein, the orchestra he conducted, and the audience in attendance all came together for a moment of spontaneous joy and celebration as the wall which most people assumed would be intact for many more years came tumbling down. There was no time in history when this symphony was performed on Christmas Day that it captured the essence of the human spirit in its quest for personal and corporate freedom.
