2020 reissue pressed on 180g coloured Vinyl LP = An epic ode to the joys of highway travel, Autobahn wraps a mesmerizing beat around a sampled collage of car horns, engine noise, whirring tires and radio crackle so infectious that US pop press at the time declares that Kraftwerk's music does for driving what the Beach Boys has done for surfing! The impact of this album is so strong that Spin magazine includes it in their list of The 15 most influential albums not recorded by The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Elvis or the Rolling Stones.

Kraftwerk is unique, pristine, profound and beautiful - all at once. Decades may pass, but their streamlined synthetic symphonies stand outside time, as fresh as tomorrow, transcendent and sublime. Though they'd recorded three previous albums, Kraftwerk's modern pop legacy starts with this impressionistic excursion down Germany's famed superhighway. The rhythmic synth pulse that carries the title track is a sonic revelation while co-founder Florian Schneider's flute work and other more delicate melodic touches hearken back to the band's prog-rock foundations as do the atmospheric "Kometenmelodie 1 & 2," "Mitternacht" and "Morgenspaziergang."
