2016 reissue on 180g vinyl 3LP- Few things are as American as the American Songbook, which Wainwright tackles here full of energy, with fake allusions and a cunning wink. He plays live with a lively 36-piece orchestra and several family guests the entire concert of Judy Garland 1961 at Carnegie Hall, and gives him some of the momentum that had been lost in the slower games of "Release The Stars".
To mark the tenth anniversary of this historic performance, the original album will be reprinted on vinyl for the first time. The three LPs were pressed at RTI and cut by Kevin Gray from Cohearent Audio.

Show business legend Judy Garland first put on the concert at Carnegie Hall on April 23, 1961, reigniting her career and solidifying her status as an icon for the LGBT community. Often considered "the greatest night in show business history," Garland's historic concert brought her audience to its feet at least half a dozen times throughout the performance and was widely regarded as her comeback. She created a live recording of the concert that garnered five Grammy awards, chief among them Album of the Year and Best Solo Vocal Performance and topped Billboard's music chart for 13 weeks in a row.
In 2006, Canadian singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright teamed up with Oremus and a 36-piece orchestra for his epic recreation of Judy Garland's original show. Wainwright took the stage at New York's Carnegie Hall, London's Palladium, Paris' Olympia and LA's Hollywood Bowl – all the same venues Garland performed in decades earlier. The shows were a critically acclaimed, sold-out sensation, with the who's-who of the industry lining up to get in. Wainwright released his own live album in 2007, Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall, which garnered Wainwright his own 2009 Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album and charted in three countries.
