2021 EU issue on coloured vinyl 2LP = Talk Memory is the fifth solo album by Canadian instrumental group BadBadNotGood.
The Canadian jazz ensemble BadBadNotGood is back with Talk Memory after five years. An instrumental album that pays tribute to the black American music from which the foursome derives its existence. Known for their cross-pollination with hip-hop, electronica and alternative music and many collaborations, such as with Tyler, The Creator, Kendrick Lamar and Ghostface Killah, the band returns to the more traditional jazz side on Talk Memory. The album relies heavily on psychedelic jazz from the 60s and the nine songs are largely created by improvisation, also to offer the audience as much live experience as possible. It was therefore not just chosen to release the no less than nine minutes long song Signal from the Noise as the first single, which was co-produced by Floating Points. The album also features musical contributions from harpist Brandee Younger and iconic Brazilian producer and musician Arthur Verocai.
